These sardines are fished off the coasts of Spain and Portugal by small sized community based fishing boats that go out at night and return in the morning. The sardines are fished with small net sacks with no wastage because sardines are school fish and the schools are located by infrared. The nets are closed once full and taken on board. No drag nets are used. No factory ships are used and the fish is not frozen either on board or on land.
