Burcott Mill was built for the Bishop of Wells and listed amongst his estates in the Domesday Book. For 1,000 years the waters from the Upper Axe have spilled from Wookey Hole to power mils along thsi man-made watercourse. Now only Burcott Mill remains, one of only 50 fully working water-powered flour mills operating in Britain.
Use Coarse for a hearty wholemeal loaf with plenty of texture and a rich nutty, roasted nutty flavour. Blend with strong flour or try using the Extra Fine. Also ideal for soda bread and as an alternative to breadcrumbs for coating chicken.
