Pure, unrefined Shea Butter with 5% pure cold pressed Neem oil is probably the most curative skin medication known to man. The Karite Tree only grows in sub-Saharan central Africa and takes about 25 years to reach maturity. Shea Butter is made from the nuts produced by these remarkable trees. Credited with the remarkably beautiful olive skin condition of the Tuareg and Fulani peoples who spend most of their time traversing one of the harshest evironments on the plant, the Sahara Desert.
With the addition of pure cold pressed Neem oil, this butter also becomes the ulimate insect repellent. Neem has been used as an insect repellent for people and food crops for thousands of years. One compound, salannin, found in Neem leaves and seeds is a safer and more effective insect repellent than the widely used chemical ingredient DEET (n,n-diethyl-m-toluamide). DEET is a potentially dangerous synthetic chemical which is not recommended for application to the skin, especially on children.
