Higher Nature ZyloSweet
ZyloSweet is an alternative natural sweetener that tastes just like sugar but has 40 per cent fewer calories, an extraordinarily low glycaemic index, can help prevent tooth decay and may help maintain your health and wellbeing in other ways too! It is ideal as part of a weight loss programme. Used to sweeten drinks and in baking, this sweetener has minimal impact on blood sugar and insulin requirements, it is also tooth friendly and helps maintain teeth free of decay. Xylitol is a natural 'sugar'. Since ZyloSweet inhibits yeast, it cannot be used to raise yeast in baking.
Directions: Suggested usage: replace sugar with equal quantities of ZyloSweet in drinks and cooking. When first using ZyloSweet, increase your daily intake gradually until your body has adjusted.
ZyloSweet is a white crystalline substance, called xylitol, that looks and tastes like sugar. It is natural, made from corncobs and birch trees, and perfectly safe. In fact, it's not only found in the body, our naturally metabolise about 15 grams every day. Chemically speaking, xylitol is not actually a sugar, but a sugar alcohol. It differs from other natural sweetners such as sorbitol, fructose and glucose because the xylitol molecule has five, instead of six carbon sugars. This molecular difference is the key to some of xylitol's many beneficial properties.
Blood sugar: ZyloSweet can be substituted for most sweeteners without compromising taste or texture. Since it is metabolised without insulin it will not disturb blood sugar levels significantly.
Weight management: ZyloSweet contains 75% less carbohydrates, 40% fewer calories than table sugar and a glycemic index (GI) of only 7. Since you use the same amount of ZyloSweet as you would sugar in foods and drinks, this makes it an ideal natural sweetener for anyone on a diet.
Dental choice: Most sugars are eagerly taken up and used as fuel by bacteria. Because of its unique molecular structure, ZyloSweet is different: it is non-acidogenic and non-cariogenic. It is essentially non-fermentable and therefore cannot be converted to acids by oral bacteria and can even be left on the teeth overnight and not cause any damage. This is one reason why it may help maintain teeth free of cavities. As a result, many dentists recommend it for adults and children.
ZyloSweet is interchangeable with sugar in cooking. However, since yeast cannot metabolise it, ZyloSweet will not work when baking breads or anything that contains yeast.
Although ZyloSweet has the same sweetness as sugar, we recommend that you try using a little less than you would of sugar and adjust from there, for example in tea an coffee use only half the amount of xylitol than they would normally use of sugar.
Because ZyloSweet cannot be used by yeasts and will not encourage yeast overgrowth.
