Ethiopia is reputed to be the home of coffee- not just barren dry land. but a tropical jungle where coffee grows in wild gardens amongst other shade-giving trees. This Yirgacheffe coffee comes from the Oromia estate and has a fine floral taste and wonderful aroma. It is probably the best of the washed Ethiopian coffees. Nuevo Futuro is a small primary co-operative in Cauca province of Colombia. It is growing with the demand for organic coffee and has additional land in organic transition. The co-operative was initially set up as a coca substitution project based on the higher incomes sustainable from organic coffee. In 1996 they expanded their field of activity to the communities Argelia, La Vega and Buenos Aires. In 2005 48 new producers of the communities (Sotara, Timbio, Santander de Quilichao, Tambo and Payan) have been officially affiliated to the organic coffee project ANF. At them moment ANF consists of 116 farmer families from nine communities. All together they form the Asociacion Nuevo Futuro.

The Peruvian beans come from the Central de Cooperativas Agrarias Cafetaleras (COCLA). It has produced and exported washed Arabica coffee since 1967. Their coffee plantations are in the Quillabamba region in the Cuzco Department of Peru, east of the Inca City of Machu Picchu. COCLA is farmer owned including more than 5,000 producers from 30 organisations including co-operatives, associations and grower committees. The farmers have approximately 12,000 hectares, growing exclusively Arabica coffee, with an annual production of 7,000 tonnes of coffee.

Those from Mexico come from the Union de Ejidos "San Fernando", which was formed in 1984 by small-scale coffee growers in the San Fernando and Ocozocoautla municipalities of Chiapas state, Southern Mexico. It was formed with the aim of solving the financial problems of its members, marketing coffee and providing technical assistance. The organisation has 1,700 members, each producer has an average of 1.5-two hectares of land.
